How to Create a Name and Description for a Task in OKR Focus
When creating a Task in OKR Focus, giving it a clear name and a meaningful description helps your team understand what needs to be done and why it matters. Here's how to do it:
📝 Task NameWhat it is: A concise, action-oriented title that summarizes what the task is about.
How to write it:
Start with a verb (e.g., Write, Design, Review, Launch)
Be specific and direct (e.g., “Draft blog post for Q2 product update” instead of “Blog”)
Examples:
“Design landing page for new feature”
“Optimize homepage meta description”
“Send Q3 OKR update to stakeholders”
What it is: A brief explanation that adds context, clarifies expectations, or includes relevant links or resources.
How to write it:
Clarify the “why” behind the task if it’s not obvious
Include key steps or deadlines if helpful
Mention related objectives, key results, or teammates if applicable
Examples:
“Part of the SEO improvement initiative. Include 3 target keywords and follow brand tone guidelines.”
“Due before Monday’s sync. Coordinate with @Sam and @Nina on copy edits.”

Optional Fields

🟠 Understanding Optional Fields in Task Setup
When creating or updating a task in OKR Focus, not all fields are required right away. Some information can be added later as work becomes more defined or priorities shift. The system helps flag missing but recommended info with visual cues so nothing important gets overlooked.
🧩 Which Fields Are Optional? The following fields can be left blank when setting up or editing a task:
Dates
Useful for scheduling, but not required at the outset.Story Points
Estimation can be added later during planning or sprint setup.Progress Type
If not selected, you’ll see a small orange info icon (⚠️) in the Metrics tab to signal this is missing.Progress Target
This is only applicable once a progress type is chosen, and can be defined later.
Empty optional fields are highlighted in orange to indicate they are incomplete.
An orange info triangle will appear next to the Metrics tab if Progress Type has not been selected.
These are reminders rather than errors. You can still save and continue working with the task as needed.
✅ Best PracticeWhile these fields are optional, completing them early improves task tracking, prioritization, and clarity across your team.
