📝 Updating Task Progress

The Update Task Progress popup allows users to log progress updates on any task. These updates support clear tracking, transparent communication, and power weekly AI-generated summaries for OKRs and initiatives.

🧾 Fields Overview Task Name

Displays the title of the task you're updating. This field confirms you’re working on the correct item.

Target (View Only)

This field shows the target defined for the task, depending on the selected Progress Type. It cannot be edited from this popup.

Examples:

  • For Status, it might be “Completed.”

  • For Percentage, it could be “100%.”

  • For Numeric, it might be a value like “30 leads” or “10 demos.”

📈 Progress Input Section

This section lets you capture the actual progress made.

Log Date

The date the progress was made.

⚠️ If the task is assigned to a Cycle, this date must fall within that Cycle's start and end dates.

Optional but encouraged. Add supporting context, decisions made, blockers encountered, or milestones hit.
These comments feed into AI-generated weekly summaries and provide valuable context for team updates.

Progress Input Type

The input type shown here depends on how the task’s progress is being tracked. There are three supported progress types:

🔘 1. Status Progress

Used for tasks that follow a defined state like:

  • Backlog

  • In Progress

  • Completed

You’ll select the current status from a dropdown.

💡 Tip: Use this for tasks that don’t require measurable numeric progress—just stage transitions.

🔢 2. Numeric Progress

Used for countable goals (e.g., “Send 20 outreach emails”).

You’ll input a numeric value (e.g., 10). This value is tracked against the target to show completion progress.

Progress Input Type

📊 3. Percentage Progress

Used when progress is best represented as a percent (e.g., “70% complete”).

You’ll input a value between 0 and 100.

⚠️ Ensure your entry reflects actual task progress—not just time passed.

Progress Input Type ✅ 4. Checklist

"Used when progress is best represented by a checklist of completed tasks (e.g., “3 out of 5 tasks completed”).

You’ll input a number representing the tasks completed out of the total.

⚠️ Ensure your entry reflects actual task completion—not just effort or time spent."

✅ Best Practices

  • Log updates weekly (or more frequently) to maintain visibility.

  • Comment thoroughly—it helps managers and AI summarizers understand what’s happening.

  • Match progress type to task nature (e.g., Status for binary tasks, Numeric for deliverables).
